HISTORY
Vintage Blues
Music Festival was born on a cold winter's night in 1996, talking
with old friends about entertainment facilities and events on the
South Coast of Western Australia. Now in it's 17th year, the Great Southern
has a truly international standard festival. The event is safe, attractive
and affordable to everybody.
Set in the picturesque gardens of Wignalls Winery
(7.2 km from the Albany CBD), the outdoor event features outstanding
international, national and WA musical acts presenting a wide range
of blues and jazz styles. Suitable for families and music enthusiasts
alike, this event attracts around 3000 people every year and has become
a regular fixture of the burgeoning circuit of winery based festivals.
Eight hours of non-stop music is usually featured
with eight or nine acts, from all parts of the world on two stages. The 2pm to 10pm festival has been an annual event
for the last 17 years and is now one of the largest winery festivals
in WA. This show is usually sold out so make sure you get your tickets
fast!
The festival resembles a Sunday BBQ environment
perfect for everyone of all ages. Food
stalls around the grounds and a full bar accommodate all tastes. Security
is strictly enforced as well as a free bus service from the centre of
Albany every half hour from 2pm, returning a number of times from 9:00pm
onwards to ensure that our extended family gets home safely, one of
our most popular features of the event.
